Somerfield has grabbed the top store service award for the first time since our end of year report in June. Our mystery shopper at the Somerfield store in Cramlington, Northumberland, had a "perfect shopping experience" and noted that the staff were the nicest he had met.

Sainsbury's Rayleigh Weir, Essex, store was being refurbished when our mystery shopper visited. However, she still found it easy enough to shop and looked forward to going back there after the works were completed.

The staff at the Tesco in Bradley Stoke, Avon, were very helpful when our shopper visited. She had a pushchair with her and used a basket rather than a trolley, so they took each basket to the till for her as she filled it up.

The Waitrose on Northgate Street in Bath also has exceptionally friendly staff. They escorted our mystery shopper to all the products she was looking for. The store was very busy when she got there but was still well-stocked.

The Asda store on Clayton Brook in Chorley, Lancashire, was not in the best state last Friday. Our mystery shopper noted that there were empty packing trolleys in the aisles and several managers were out stacking shelves.

Our shopper at the Morrisons store on Victoria Parade in Northampton received good service, but it was spoiled when she was overcharged for a price-marked item.
