Nisa-Today’s has dismissed reports that chairman Dudley Ramsden is trying to push through resolutions that could enable him to restructure the board.
The rumours surfaced following Somerfield chairman John von Spreckelsen’s resignation from the Nisa-Today’s board and the rescheduling of its annual general meeting to the week before Christmas. Insiders claim the decision will allow the board to push through special resolutions providing more power to oust directors and exclude multiple businesses from membership. But the organisation said von Spreckelsen’s board resignation naturally followed his resignation as Somerfield chairman, Somerfield’s purchase by Violet Acquisitions and its resignation from Nisa-Today’s membership.
It insisted the AGM had been rescheduled to enable directors to focus on problems at the new ambient distribution centre in Scunthorpe.
Separately, Nisa-Today’s group commercial MD Neil Turton said ordering for delivery within two days is now being phased in at Scunthorpe.
