Northern Foods, one of Marks & Spencer’s biggest suppliers, has said it wants to see the retailer make changes to the way it operates its food business before it can accept the recent price cuts, according to media reports.

The supplier has been asked to cut prices by 1.25% from September, followed by a cut of 2% from next April.

Separately, it has emerged that the trustees of the Marks & Spencer pension scheme do not legally have to answer any questions from Philip Green, who is waiting to hear if they will meet with him.
