Waitrose has stretched its distribution network "as far north as it can probably go" with plans to build a store in Wrexham, north Wales. Scheduled to open in 2004, the new Food and Home store, combining John Lewis lines and Waitrose groceries, will be built on a derelict site at Eagles Meadow, Wrexham, as part of a wider regeneration project. Waitrose director of development and services Nigel Burton said the chain was focusing on sites beyond its core trading area, with greater use of its distribution centre in Brinklow, near Milton Keynes. Teams are now scouring Cheshire, north Wales, south Wales and the south west for new sites. {{NEWS }}
