Retailers can increase online sales by 20% by offering customers a means of compiling home shopping lists offline, according to Unipower which powers offline shopping solutions for Tesco and Superquinn. Customers install the retailer's catalogue on their desktop from a CD and shop at their leisure without running up a large bill and preventing other members of the household from using the phone. There is only a short link up to the net to send the completed order, and customers don't abandon baskets because of network or service problems. Navigation around the catalogue is instant as the customer is not waiting for web pages to download. Superquinn e-commerce manager Liam Royal said customers spent 20% more using the retailer's transactional catalogue option. {{NEWS }}
