The Office of Fair Trading has referred Tesco's acquisition of a former Co-operative Group store in Slough to the Competition Commission.

Tesco acquired the store in 2004 but the retailer failed to meet an OFT deadline to find a suitable one-stop grocery provider to purchase the site.

The Competition Commission will now decide whether the acquisition “has resulted, or may be expected to result, in a substantial lessening of competition in any market for goods or services within the UK”.
