Palmer & Harvey McLane, the UK's biggest wholesaler, is to launch a scheme designed to generate greater loyalty among its independent retailer customers.

P&H Partnership Plus has been developed as part of the company's strategic review, launched in April to improve the service P&H offers independent retailers as well as its profit margin of 0.6%.

P&H declined to divulge details of the scheme , but it is understood it will reward retailers who do the bulk of their buying centrally through P&H.

It is thought the scheme will be launched in January.
