A product that measures the life of perishable goods has gone on sale in 215 Sainsbury stores.
Designed for use in the freezer or fridge, the Timestrip device consists of a sealed bubble filled with red liquid.
Once that is popped it records how long a product has been stored.
Sainsbury has an exclusive deal with packaging supplier, the Reynard Group, to sell the product for three months before a full roll-out. Sainsbury will display packs next to products with synergies with Timestrip, such as dairy lines and freezer
food. It is priced at £1.49 for 15 pieces. The product will be distributed throughout the foodservice sector in July said the Reynard Group joint MD Reuben Isbitsky.
