Two posh pie companies have made it on to The Sunday Times ranking of the 100 fastest-growing UK private companies.

Upmarket pie maker Higgidy ranked 43rd on the list after its sales rocketed 76.6% to £8.1m in the year to September 2010.

Gourmet pie maker Pieminister also sneaked on to the list at number 99 after boosting sales by 43.57% in the year to December 2009 to £10.6m.

The highest-ranked grocery company on the list was babyfood maker Ella's Kitchen at number 14. Its sales grew 129.2% in the year to June 2010 to £16.5m.

Other food and drink companies that made the grade included fried chicken wholesaler SFC Wholesale, natural petfood manufacturer MPM Products, distributor Intamarque, discount ­retailer B&M Retail and Tangerine Confectionery.
