It’s taken over two years, but we’re finally in profit.
We invested £1,000 in our basket of shares back in autumn 2001 and we’re now celebrating being £3 up.
Despite half our shares declining in value this month, another stonking performance from Somerfield, which was also last month’s biggest mover, boosted the value of our portfolio into four-figures.
Somerfield’s share price grew by a fifth over the last four weeks to 164.5p. In fact the value of its shares has grown by a staggering 146% in the past 10 months.
Teather & Greenwood analyst David Stoddart said the rise in Somerfield was due to its “better than expected” interim statement.
