Shaw’s Supermarkets - owned by Sainsbury - is said to be gearing up for expansion in New England, to take advantage of the defensive position of Dutch retailer Ahold which owns the Stop & Shop chain.
Shaw’s is reportedly to open 13 stores this year with investments of $470m.

The Argentine press has reported that Car One, a dealership in Buenos Aires is to open an outlet at a hypermarket owned by French group Carrefour at the end of this month. The report said there were plans for a further two outlets at Carrefour supermarkets in the future.
