Tesco’s market share reached a record high of 28.8% in the 12 weeks to August 7, according to the latest TradeTrak data from ACNielsen.
Although figures for Safeway will become increasingly meaningless as more stores are sold or converted to the Morrisons fascia, Safeway dipped to 8.2% over the same period, down from 8.5% in the 12 weeks to May 15.
Sainsbury continued to lose ground, with its share dropping to 15.8% compared with 15.9% in the 12 weeks to May 15.
