At the company’s conference in Marbella, Spain, Today’s Group managing director Rodney Hunt said annual results to December 31 2002 showed 80% of its supply base had seen growth. Increases included a 25.7% rise in sales of licensed products, an 11.5% jump in grocery products and an 8.4% increase in impulse products.
Hunt went on to emphasise the importance of licensed and impulse suppliers keeping up their share of business with the independent sector to help them resist the dominance of the multiples. He praised recent calls from brewers to redress the difference in beer prices between multiples and independents, caused by the multiples’ heavy discounting.
Hunt also announced the launch of a website for the Today’s Group, targeting existing and potential customers. The site, which is separate to the Today’s B2B site, would provide information about the company, members and services and feature regular promotions. Web links to member and supplier sites are also planned.
