Arla has started consulting local residents near Aylesbury over its plans to build a one billion-litre dairy in the area.

Arla held meetings over the proposed development which would be built next to the A41 Aston Clinton bypass in the village of Weston Turville on Wednesday and in Aston Clinton and Buckland on Thursday. "We think it is important to involve local people in our emerging masterplan, prior to us submitting a planning application," the company said in a statement on its website.

Arla's proposed development and consultation with local residents were welcomed by local MP for Aylesbury, David Lidington, who said it was only correct that local people had their say. "I hope that Arla's decision to take the initiative in publicising their plans will mean that the debate can take pace on the basis of a shared understanding of the facts," he wrote on his blog.
