Marks & Spencer CEO Stuart Rose has been named new chairman of Business in the Community - an action group of 800 companies committed to making a positive impact on society.

Rose will take up the role on 1 January, replacing BT chairman Sir Mike Rake.

"Stuart is a perfect fit for the role, bringing proven experience and leadership," said BITC CEO Julia Cleverdon. "His commitment to ethical and social issues won M&S our Company of the Year award again last year."
