Safeway is to become the first supermarket to go into pizza delivery, with trials starting on Monday from its St Katherine's Dock flagship store. Customers within a two mile radius of the store will be able to place orders over the phone from Monday. Six types of pizza, including make your own, are on offer, priced between £4.99 for a basic 10 inch pizza, to £7.99 for a 14 inch. Pizzas will be prepared at the fresh to go counters in store. Specially designed vans with hoses to pump warm air into the pizza packaging will deliver orders between 4pm and 11pm seven days a week.
