Sainsbury is planning to discourage deliveries to Internet customers who spend less than £25 per trip, according to newspaper reports today.

Sainsbury to You delivers 35,000 orders per week, of which about 4% currently spend less than £25 a visit.

The company said it wanted to cut down the amount of low-spending clients as it works to manage an increasing number of customers, as well as maintaining a high level of service.

The decision is most likely to affect single and elderly customers, said Phil Evans, principal policy advisor for Which?, as reported in The Times today.
