Sainsbury made its first deliveries from a new 365,000sq ft regional distribution centre in Emerson's Green, near Bristol, this week. The new centre supplies ambient, chilled and frozen products to 42 stores in the south west previously served by two depots in Bristol and Yate. Logistics firm Exel has won the contract to operate the site, although there may be opportunities for other firms as activities from Yate and Bristol are phased out and transferred to Emerson's Green. Sainsbury has spent several months redeveloping the racking system at the depot, which it acquired from Booker in February. It has also installed a new docking system. {{NEWS }}
