Sainsbury's has converted all its own-label chocolate Easter eggs to Fairtrade.
The retailer said all eight of its own-brand boxed chocolate gift eggs would be 100%-Fairtrade to help support cocoa growers and their communities.

The eggs will range from £2 to £6 for Taste The Difference variants.

Sainsbury's, which claims to be the world's biggest seller of Fairtade goods, also poured scorn on press reports that hard-up shoppers were turning their backs on ethical products in an effort to save money.

The retailer said it was upping the number of Fairtrade products it stocked and that they had been well received by consumers. "Despite the current focus on price and great value, shoppers clearly want to know that producers are getting a fair deal too," said a company spokesman.
