Allied Bakeries appears to have escaped a sales downturn following the return of suspected sabotage at its factory in Orpington, Kent, nine months after the last reported incident.

Asda said there had been no noticeable downturn. Morrisons and Sainsbury's said they did not get Kingsmill products from Orpington. Tesco was unavailable for comment.

Allied would not reveal its sales data. Last week the FSA said that as well as three incidents this month, with needles, glass and gum in packs, Allied Bakeries had said there were additional public complaints about foreign objects in Kingsmill.
