Scotmid has appointed Sarah Glenton as head of retail marketing for food.
Glenton joins Scotmid from Asda where she held a number of senior positions, including cakes buyer, marketing manager for biscuits, confectionery and seasonal, and marketing manager for grocery.
Glenton will be based at Scotmid’s new head office at Newbridge, near Edinburgh.
She replaces John Drummond who moved on from Scotmid in October last year in order to take up the position of chief executive of the Scottish Grocers’ Federation.
Glenton said: “Scotmid is one of the most recognised names in food retailing in Scotland and like everyone else in the high street, they are facing some challenging times.
“The opportunity to become involved with the society at this key time was something I could not let pass by.”
Colin McLean, Scotmid’s chief operating officer for food, said: “Sarah brings to Scotmid extensive experience of working for one of the country’s largest retailers in a diverse number of roles. She has worked across a number of food markets, both ambient and fresh, allowing her to understand an extensive customer base.”
He added: “She will bring that little something extra to what is already a highly motivated team at Scotmid.”
