Discounters Aldi and Lidl have joined the multiples in the scramble to tempt shoppers with cut-price gadgets and electricals in the run-up to Christmas.
Aldi is offering DAB digital radio for just £44.99. It has also cut £30 off a mobile GPS satellite navigation system with integrated GPS receiver that it is now selling for £219.99.
Lidl is offering deals on TVs and video recorders. However, its £39.99 for a digital terrestrial TV receiver has been undercut by Asda’s offer of a Mico set top box for £27.84. On top of cheap and tertiary branded goods, the multiples are also aiming to steal a march on the high street with high profile advertising on mainstream brands.
