Smile Stores has opened its second Country Market store - and is looking to roll out more of the format.

The 3,000 sq ft outlet in Bruton, Somerset, is based on a forecourt and joins Smile's first Country Market store in West Hill, Devon, which opened in May.

The Country Market format has a greater focus on fresh and locally sourced products. "The idea is to stock the range of products you would normally find in our stores but put in a lot more fresh produce and bring in high quality regional suppliers," said Jeremy Symonds, chief executive. "When we have stores of more than 2,000 sq ft in a suitable position we will look at rolling out the Country Market range."

Smile Stores operates 95 shops around the south west and aims to open another new c-store in Plymouth before Christmas.
