US supermarket chains Safeway and Albertson's are on the acquisition trail again, with Oklahoma based Fleming's 34 Sentry supermarkets a likely target. Fleming chairman Mark Hansen said a review of the "strategic alternatives" for Sentry and its other retail operations was almost complete. A sale would allow Fleming, one of the country's largest supermarket wholesalers, to focus on its core businesses. Wisconsin based supermarket retailer and wholesaler Schultz is also in the running for Sentry. Other Fleming retail chains likely to hit the market include Rainbow Foods, Baker's Supermarkets, ABCO Desert Market and Thompson's Food Basket. {{NEWS }}
