Somerfield is radically restructuring its category management teams following the separation of its Kwik Save and Somerfield retail operations into two separate business units. The multiple said category management was already partially in place in the Kwik Save business unit and would now be developed for Somerfield. The business units are to handle customer relationship management, with the buying team dealing with relationships with suppliers. A spokesman for Somerfield said: "As a result of this restructure there will be changes in the roles and responsibilities of a number of individuals. "We are embarking on a period of discussion with these individuals to make sure they are happy with their new roles." He said a further announcement identifying the staff filling specific team roles would be made within a month. New recruits are also being sought to fill several positions. Staff were informed of the changes this week, with the new structure set to be in place by the beginning of November. {{NEWS }}
