Shaw’s Supermarkets - the US arm of Sainsbury - has agreed to buy five stores from Vermont-based GU Markets. The stores in New Hampshire and Vermont will be acquired in phases and converted to the Shaw’s format.

Shaw's CEO Paul Gannon, said: “The purchase of these stores offers an exciting chance to enter new markets. They are a good fit with Shaw's existing network of stores in New Hampshire and Vermont.”
