One of the leading retail supporters of the little red tractor remains confident the trade will back the scheme. Sir Peter Davis, group chief executive of Sainsbury and a member of the Curry commission, told The Grocer much was being done to clarify the scheme. And he said retailers could be doing more to give the tractor a higher profile in stores. Sir Peter added: "The scheme got off to a reasonable start but is not yet recognised by a lot of people. I think the Curry commission is hoping there will be some government money to help advertise the tractor to get it better known." However, he said that until the government completed its comprehensive spending review, there was no way of knowing whether any money would be forthcoming.
