The deal will allow managers at all levels to access staff information from a head office database via the internet. Somerfield said the system would enable it to slash the time and cash spent on HR. Other benefits would include better tracking of staff movements, quicker inductions and more efficient payroll processes.
The system has been designed in partnership with IT solutions provider SAP and specifically branded MyPeople for the Somerfield Group.
It is being rolled out to more than 1,350 Somerfield and Kwik Save sites from August.
Some 50,000 of Somerfield's 76,000 employees will be on the new HR database by June next year.
