Harry Tuffins has reported like-for-like sales growth of 3.88% in the past three months thanks to its former Somerfield stores.

The Welsh Borders-based indie acquired two Somerfields, in Coleford and Lydney, Gloucester-shire, from The Co-op Group in November 2009.

Despite reports of some retailers struggling with former Somerfields, Harry Tuffins MD Paul Delves said the stores were "performing better than our average, which is very encouraging". "These are more than pleasing results because we have had three Tesco superstores open in our trading area over the past 18 months," he added.
