Spar has launched a major push on its range of food for evening meals and will spend £1.5m on a new Drop In For Dinner Deals advertising campaign.

The relaunched Evening Meal Solutions range hit shelves last week.

It includes 116 lines, 29 of which are new and 26 of which are reformulated. The products featuring desserts, poultry, ready meals, pre-prepared vegetables and frozen pasta have been given a packaging makeover, and now feature larger product pictures on-pack.

The £1.5m advertising campaign will include national radio, Spotify and press ads, supported by new point-of-sale material, including shelf wobblers, barkers, posters and ­leaflets.

The range will be heavily promoted, with deals ­likely to include £1 off ­traditional meals and frozen garlic baguettes selling for £1.

"These are quality products that are all competitively priced and offer great value for money," said Spar brand director Susan Darbyshire.

"The Evening Meal Solutions activity is aimed at increasing basket spend and improving Spar retailers' bottom line by promoting the message that customers can find what they need at their local Spar, often at promotional price points."
