Spar UK has appointed Kim Mawby as group trading director to develop long-term trading strategy. Mawby will be responsible for all Spar trading performance and personnel and will work with Spar md Jerry Marwood to develop a trading plan. Mawby has considerable experience in food retail. She was previously general manager trading for United Co-op, which she joined in 1998. She also chaired the Association of Convenience Stores' personnel and training forum during that period. She worked for c-store chains Jackson's Stores as buying and merchandising director from 1992-1997 and Misselbrook & Weston from 1997-1998 as buying and marketing director. Mawby said: "I am delighted to be joining the Spar team in Harrow and look forward to making a contribution to Spar's development and continued leadership of the c-store sector." Marwood commented: "Kim's core strengths are her in-depth experience of the convenience sector, her experience of buying collaborative groups and her people skills. "One of her challenges will be to establish a rapport with Spar members, nationally and internationally. She will also help exploit our position in the c-store sector and develop relationships with suppliers to enable our market to grow." {{PEOPLE MOVES }}
