Spar has boosted its ranks in the south-west after striking a deal to supply the 63-strong store estate of The Grocer Top 50 member Conveco.

The move follows a clutch of recent business wins for Spar, which has brokered deals with Stars News, GT News and former Cellar 5 subsidiary Right Choice since the beginning of the year, and supports Spar’s aggressive growth strategy, said Spar UK MD Jerry Marwood.

“This demonstrates that Spar can deliver a retail solution not just for independent retailers, but also for professional multiple groups, both national and regional.”

Conveco, which is based at Long Ashton near Bristol, was formed from three former Alldays joint venture companies in spring 2001. It signed up with Nisa following the break-up with Alldays and rebadged its estate to a new format called Localplus. It is ranked 19th in The Grocer Top 50, with sales last year of £49.6m.
