Spar is talking to publishers about extending to newspapers the promotional deals it runs on magazines via its Spar 500 News Group. Comprising 500 company owned stores, the group negotiated deals with magazine distributors such as Marketforce to run a series of two week promotions on selected titles. With sales rising since trials began in October, other publishers and distributors are coming on board. The scheme has been so successful the group will now encourage independents to get involved. Spar affiliated multiples will most likely be targeted first. Discussions are taking place about promotions on titles like the Mail and the Mirror. {{NEWS }}
