Spar Austria has pioneered a radical interactive promotion that rewards customers who choose to get involved instead of bombarding everyone with offers they might not want. Dubbed Hello-Win, the promotion involved six major suppliers and six products that shoppers might buy for a Hallowe'en party, including Pringles, Fanta and Brau Union beer. Three weeks before Hallowe'en, consumers logged onto the animated Spar web site and played a game that offered free or discounted products to pick up instore ­ provided they entered some personal details on an online form. This in turn generated a unique barcoded coupon to each player that could be redeemed instore against products from participating suppliers. The redemption rate was 24% ­ five times the industry average for similar promotions. {{NEWS }}
