The average level of normal out of stocks in the battery market is 13%, with the exception of Morrisons, which is at 26%, somewhat unusually for the company.
However, promotional stock availability has hit new lows with an average of 45% of product across all groups expected to be unavailable when shoppers are out in their droves, just before an active weekend away.
Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury sit together in the way they handle promotions, each with out of stock issues being 60% or more.
Somerfield has the most products on promotion, but also, by comparison, handles it best, with around 30% out of stocks.
Safeway, which has been improving overall recently, is star in the availability firmament with only 14% of SKUs on promotion having availability issues.
