Cash & carries Parfetts and Booker have toasted strong sales for the three months to 19 June.

Parfetts Cash & Carry raked up a 9.7% increase in sales during the period. MD Steve Parfett said good weather and a decent June had boosted sales. "The sector as a whole is doing well and everyone is getting on with a good job."

Booker continued its resurgence by posting a 7.8% increase in total sales during the quarter. Non-tobacco sales rose 10.4%, while tobacco sales were up 3.9%.

"Booker continues to make progress in a challenging market," said CEO Charles Wilson.
