Tesco and Sainsbury have both announced major appointments to ramp up their clothing offers.
Tesco has made former Allders boss Terry Green chief executive of clothing following months of speculation as to whether he would join the giant.
Green has a long career in clothing, having been chief executive of Debenhams, Allders, Topshop and BHS.
Tesco said Green would help to grow the business further and bring in new ranges and better value for customers.
He replaces John Hoerner, who will now help develop a template for Tesco’s European clothing business.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury has appointed Adrian Mountford as buying director for its TU clothing range. He joins the retailer from BHS where he was a divisional buying director. Sainsbury said Mountford had a wealth of experience and a proven track record across all clothing categories.
The retailer added that, in his new role, Mountford would play an important part in building the buying structure and team.
n Sainsbury has also appointed Darryl Burchell as business planning manager for fresh foods. Burchell worked at Asda for four years as head of fresh merchandising and head of change for chilled foods.
