Staff at Irish chain Superquinn have won a pay rise of up to 17%. The increase brings their rates into line with those recently negotiated with Tesco and Dunnes Stores. Superquinn's new starting rate is now I£5.45 an hour, well above the national minimum wage of I£4.20, with a new maximum of I£8.26 an hour, payable after 10 years' service. The deal, negotiated by shopworkers' union Mandate through the Labour Relations Commission, represents an average increase of 12-17.5%, and was approved by a 94% majority in a ballot of the 4,000-plus staff. {{NEWS }}
