Thirty eight Scottish stores have joined Londis since new regional distribution and transhipment centres have given it the infrastructure to serve 1,000 extra outlets. Londis says wholesale turnover is up by over £1m with a further 25 stores due to start trading imminently. The new distribution centre near Wakefield and transhipment centre near Glasgow were opened two months ago. Londis chief executive Graham White said: "Londis' expansion in Scotland will create hundreds of new jobs in the next five years and save countless others by preventing store closures. We expect 45% of our growth to come from these expansion areas." Londis' first 24 hour forecourt Scottish flagship store in Clydebank boasted a turnover of over £10k in the first three weeks, with a second flagship store due to open in Glasgow this August. {{NEWS }}
