The Select & Save group, once the property of Booker Wholesale Foods, is now "in recruitment mode" after surviving a period when it haemorrhaged members. Director Steve Jones said a Spar retailer from Peterborough had just switched to Select & Save and a Premier Plus store in St Helens was about to do likewise. Jones said: "Our supply deal with Nisa has worked out exceptionally well. We have concentrated on improving the profitability of those stores that stayed with us after the BWF sell-off, but we are now in a recruitment mode." Jones said the group  which now comprises 36 retailers  was already working on its Christmas promotional programme which would be similar to the one run last year when a basket' of beers, wines, spirits and liqueurs was priced lower than Asda. {{NEWS }}
