The system uses store and wholesaler sales data to generate bespoke plans for each individual store, category and sub-category. Retailers download the software from its website and input details such as depth and width of shelves. A category management folder containing a coloured planogram will then be sent in the post within two days, listing all products shelf by shelf.
Category management manager Garry Marland said James Hall had invested heavily in new equipment, personnel and subscription to the Galleria space management scheme to enable the retailers to have the latest information on category management.
“You only have to look at all the white goods now on sale in the multiples. How did they get all that extra space? They got it by rationalising out slow sellers and duplications and we must follow suit,” said Marland.
