Tesco has responded to widespread criticism of its bid for T&S by asserting hundreds of neighbourhoods will benefit if its bid is approved by the OFT.
In The Saturday Essay (p24) Tesco group director of corporate affairs Lucy Neville-Rolfe says the move will contribute to a thriving convenience sector.
If the deal is approved, T&S chairman Kevin Threlfall will remain as a business adviser. Chief executive Jim McCarthy will stay to assist the new ceo who will run the One Stop and Day & Nite stores as an independent unit. T&S group retail director Paul Mildenstein will become operations director.
