Tesco has appointed David Yelland, former editor of The Sun newspaper, as a public relations adviser.
A Tesco spokeswoman said that Yelland had been hired after speaking at a Tesco conference last year on the art of communication.
“His talk was very popular and was a good fit with Tesco’s culture,” the spokeswoman added. Yelland takes up his role immediately and will advise Tesco on strategic internal and external communications.
He is currently senior vice chairman for public relations company Weber Shandwick, which he joined last June.
Yelland was editor of The Sun for five years and has worked in journalism for 20 years.
