Tesco is expanding its clothing business on to the Continent.
Shoppers around the European Union will be able to buy clothing from the supermarket online from this month.
“We’re not only testing the popularity of such a service but also gauging the response to our clothing offer in new markets,” said clothing boss Jill Easterbrook.
The news comes with Tesco tipped to unveil disappointing sales for the past three months. The UK’s largest supermarket will announce its second-quarter trading figures tomorrow, with analysts suggesting like-for-like food sales may have fallen by 0.9% over the period. A much sharper slump is anticipated in non-food.
Sainsbury's also reveals its latest results tomorrow, but is expected to have performed better than its larger rival.
