Tesco is replacing its Computers for Schools and Sports for Schools & Clubs vouchers with a new scheme from next month.

The retailer said it had created the Tesco for Schools & Clubs scheme, which will run until 7 June, after teachers and club organisers said they wanted one type of voucher that could be spent on a range of items.

A 210-page catalogue produced for schools and clubs includes computer equipment, sports kit, eco products, maths & literacy supplies and art materials.

"The initiative has been created in response to this feedback, uniting all previous offerings into one vast and exciting range," said Tesco. Shoppers will get one voucher for every £10 spent in superstores and one for every £5 spent in Express stores.

"Since 1992, Tesco has given away more than £155m worth of equipment to schools and clubs across the UK and we want to make this another bumper year," said Tesco corporate responsibility manager Jan Foster.

Last week Sainsbury's launched its annual Active Kids voucher scheme, which will run until 3 June. The scheme, which is also open to schools and clubs, has widened the range of products that can be exchanged for vouchers.
