Tesco has unveiled a new oasthouse logo to give Kent produce a stronger identity, as part of a strategy to build up its reputation for regional sourcing.
The mark was unveiled at the Broadstairs branch of Tesco Extra to herald the beginning of
the Kent new potato season. The new potato crop will be available in 45 stores across Kent, East Sussex, Surrey and South London. The variety currently on sale is the Riviera, which will be joined later by Maris Peer and Maris Bard.
The initiative follows marketing campaigns by the supermarket in the past two years for Cornish and Pembrokeshire potatoes.
Tesco’s senior buying manager, Roy Maynard, said: “We expect potatoes and other produce from Kent to play a big part in our future plans.”
