Tesco is today expected to launch a dedicated mobile phone shop.

The store, which will open within its 190,000 sq ft store in Slough, Berkshire, is expected to provide customers with mobiles, landlines, and accessories.

Customers to the store will also be able to find out advice on broadband and home phone services.

The store will also include a new service called ‘mobile phone selector’ where customers can type in their mobile phone requirements to find out the best handset options for them.

Andy Dewhurst, chief executive of Tesco telecoms, said: “This is not just another mobile phone shop.”

“At Tesco we are challenging the normal telecoms buying experience, which is complicated, pressured and time consuming.”

In August this year when the Slough store opened, store manager Richard Wilcox told The Grocer that Tesco would use the back wall of the store to create “shops within a shop”, with space for 13 concessions.
