Tesco has been named the “Marmite of British business” following a survey which found that it was the most and least trusted company.

The survey, conducted by research institute AccountAbility and the National Consumer Council on 2,000 people, found that although Tesco was praised for its service, there were also concerns of its size and treatment of suppliers.

Ed Mayo, chief executive of the NCC said: “These kind of results ought to be a real concern to Tesco because it suggests that what they've been doing in a frenetic way to woo back those concerned customers feels a bit flat-footed.”
