Tesco has today unveiled a raft of price cuts totalling £60m which it claims will help its shoppers cope with the recent rise in National Insurance contributions.

The cuts apply to a range of over 1,000 food and non food products, including fresh meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, skincare and suncream, videos and DVDs, as well as clothing.

Marketing director Tim Mason said: “Many families will find some of their costs have increased recently, including their National Insurance contributions.

“By lowering prices, we are doing our bit to help.”
