The top end of the retailer chart takes on a different look this week.
After a closely fought battle over the past month, with barely a whisker separating the top three, Tesco has stormed into an impressive lead.
Gondola end promotions on Nescafé and the Princes range have helped, as has a particularly strong showing in the health and beauty category. Two for £2 offers on Palmolive APD and Radox products as well as gondola end displays of Timotei and Kotex have all helped Tesco show a clean pair of heels to the rest. Behind Tesco, the pack remains very tight with only a couple of percentage points separating Sainsbury, Asda, Morrisons and Safeway.
In comparison to the retailers, the brand chart has a familiar look to it. Heinz and Walkers tied for the top spot.
The pair have made the top two spots their own over the past month. But perhaps McVitie’s will be the one to end this stranglehold, impressive gondola end displays of the Jaffa Cake range in Sainsbury on the back of a save 20% promotion have helped McVitie’s close the gap.
